Sofia Consumer Protection Conference on Consumer Day – 29-30th April 2018
A member of the ECCG, Pauline Azzopardi, was invited by the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU to a conference entitled “Consumer Law and Policy Today. Can we do better?”. The conference dealt with the implementation of REFIT, which are changes that have given a face lift to EU Consumer and Marketing Law. It gave opportunity to Government and other stakeholders to express and exchange views on the New Deal for Consumers’ Package after its adoption.
In the first panel session discussion was focused on the need for transparency of online markets, strengthening and simplifying information requirements in consumer law, more proportionate, effective and dissuasive financial penalties for breaches of consumer law. In the second panel session the discussions continued with proposed amendment of the Injunction Directive. See the program and more information on the conference.
