ACR Press release: The Volkswagen Group Emission Scandal – the need for transparency

The Association for Consumer Rights is very concerned with the emissions scandal involving the Volkswagen group (VW). Since its announcement, the European Commission has been following closely the implications of this case for European consumers as several pieces of European consumer legislation are likely to apply to this specific case and in particular Directive 1999/44/EC on Consumer Sales and Guarantees and Directive 2005/29/EC on Unfair Commercial Practices.
