#EUBeachCleanUp 2019

Every year millions of tons of trash end up in the ocean. By 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in the sea. Therefore, the European Union, the United Nations and the Smurfs are teaming up. For clean oceans and clean beaches.

Especially on 21 September, World Cleanup Day, EU and UN offices all across the world organised beach cleanup events together with local organisations, schools, NGOs and more.

In Malta, the European Commission Representation joined efforts with the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), the diving club Atlam and more volunteers to clean up the area around Fekruna Bay, Xemxija.
